Fascia problems – questions & answers
Fascia, soffit and guttering are exposed to the elements every day of the year. This can lead to problems with cracking, warping, leaking and creaking. The eaves and roofline of your home can become vulnerable to damp and rain damage.
At Freefoam we offer a complete roofline solution, with products to keep gutters clear and prevent birds entering at the eaves. Please contact our customer service team if you have any questions or would like advice.
You can call us on 0800 002 9903 (weekdays 8.30am - 5.00pm), email us at ukmarketing@freefoam.com or use our online chat at the foot of the page.
Capping over is a cheaper ‘patch up’ roofline repair option as the products used are less substantial. It should only be considered if the existing fascia is in very good condition and free from rot. Attaching a PVC cappit fascia board to rotten wood will cost you more in the long run! You could simply be covering over a problem which will continue to get worse rather than solving it.
Full replacement involves removing the existing wooden fascia and replacing it with a new PVC fascia board. During this process the felt that guides rainwater into your gutter can also be checked and replaced to ensure your roofing performs properly.
Whatever you decide to do, it is essential you know what you’re actually paying for. Chat with your registered Freefoam installer about which method they would suggest for your property.
All Freefoam products are built to last and are protected by extra UV Protection. Freefoam products won’t rot, like wood or rust like iron. They are guaranteed not to crack, warp, discolour or blister because they are manufactured with additional titanium dioxide- a natural mineral used in sun creams. This protects them from the sun’s harmful UV rays and ensures the products used in your roofline repairs last.
Freeflow™ is Freefoam’s range of gutters and downpipes designed to give a leak free solution.
Freefoam are one of the few companies who make guttering with a distinctive layer of white PVC inside. This white layer cleverly reduces the amount of heat absorbed by the gutter on a hot day which in turn reduces the amount the gutter expands and contracts as it warms up and cools down by up to 40%.
The Freefoam Guarantee offers peace of mind for up to an incredible 50 years. No other manufacturer can give you this level of security and commitment.

White inside.
Freefoam are one of the few companies who make guttering with a distinctive layer of white PVC inside. This white layer cleverly reduces the amount of heat absorbed by the gutter on a hot day which in turn reduces (by up to 40%) the amount the gutter expands and contracts as it warms up and cools down.
Red seals.
Our guttering includes red long-life advanced compressible seals which are used to create flexible water-tight joints when connecting lengths of guttering together. These allow the gutter to move – without making a noise and without creating the gaps which cause leaks.
No more leaks and creaks!
Reducing gutter movement significantly reduces a major cause of leaks and also reduces those annoying gutter creaks. So if you don’t want leaky, creaky gutters when you replace your guttering Freefoam is the answer.

The roofline including fascia and soffits is where the walls of your home meet the roof. It’s where your gutters collect the rainwater running from your roof and channel it safely away into drains. It is essential to encourage adequate airflow to prevent condensation and avoid damp rotten timbers in your roof. Our Freefoam soffits encourage excellent airflow.
Our registered local installers will take away your old roofline waste such as guttering etc… leaving your home clean and tidy.
Manufactured to respected International Quality Management Standards Freefoam products are 100% lead free, and always have been, to ensure there is no risk to homeowners or the environment.
Freefoam products contain up to 85% recycled content with Freefoam recycling 85% of PVC waste to produce a sustainable and environmentally friendly range.
Yes it is possible to fit our rainwater Freeflow™ system on its own but we do a fantastically designed integrated system which works exceptionally well. Gutter has to be fixed to a fascia board and if an installer is replacing gutter it is often more cost effective to have the fascia replaced at the same time.
It is sometimes possible to repair wood fascia with additions of timber to replace the rotten and damaged parts. If you are looking to renew wood fascia it is a much better long term cost effective solution to replace with PVC.
There are lots of reasons why Freefoam's PVC range is the eco-friendly choice for your roofline replacement.
All our products are 100% lead free and always have been. While some rival products have a lead free outer skin, the foam core inside still contains lead. Freefoam is lead free throughout so you can be sure when you choose it for your roofline it won’t harm your family or the environment.
Green manufacturing
We currently recycle 85% of the waste from our manufacturing process. We have also managed to reduce our energy consumption year on year and are committed to achieving further reductions.
Low lifetime costs
The longer something is in use, and the less maintenance it requires the smaller its “lifetime” costs. Freefoam fascia, soffit and guttering products are guaranteed to last 50 years. Unlike wood they will continue to look good and work perfectly with the bare minimum of maintenance without needing to be repaired or replaced for decades.
100% recyclable
Because our products are made from PVC, when they finally reach the end of their life they can be recycled and used to make new PVC from which brand new products can be made. PVC can be recycled in this way up to 20 times!
Water from blocked or broken gutters will overflow down the outside walls. Left un-repaired moisture will seep through the wall and create problems with damp and mould on the inside of your home. It is essential to keep guttering well maintained and free from leaves, moss and other debris.
Nesting birds and other unwanted visitors can make their homes in yours! Our eaves protector and bird comb products keep guttering running smoothly and prevent access by birds.
